For anyone considering purchasing a Jeep, let me start by saying, they are a lot of fun and can take you to places with views that no one else can see, unless they have a jeep. That is the great reward, BUT what most people don’t know is that they are an endless expense. Before I bought my Jeep, I was warned about the money pit part, but I was blinded by the prospect of going on adventures with my son and friend. The problem was, the adventures were not as common as I thought. Taking a weekend day to go drive around the mountains was always interrupted by yardwork, cleaning, home repairs, or jeep maintenance woes. Paying for registration and insurance on a vehicle I was only using 3 or 4 times a year, just wasn’t practical. So after hemming and hawing, I finally decided to try and sell the Jeep.
Like most people, I thought I had a great rig and was certain within a few days on Craiglist, the Jeep would be gone and I would be on to my next adventure. I was wrong. I advertised my jeep for 3 months in a row and had ridiculous to no offers. I was starting to accept the fact that I was never going to sell it and would probably have to dump more money into it to make it the way I wanted. Just as I was giving up hope, I got a reasonable offer. A guy contacted me and asked if I would trade my Jeep for a 1984 Chevy K10 square body. To keep this story short, I will just say that agreed to the trade. The truck isn’t in bad shape, but it needs some work and love. Now I am off to my next adventure. This site will get a revamp and will get a section to chronical this restoration project. Stay tuned.
